Vancouver will be ringing in the nation’s 150+ birthday with a momentous honor: the city will be the first-ever Canadian site to play host to one of Salvador Dalí’s most iconic works. Conceived in 1979 and first cast in 1984, the Dance of Time I sculpture has previously exhibited in Paris, Marseille, Shanghai, and Beverly Hills.
Chali-Rosso Art Gallery, in partnership with the DVBIA, is bringing a spectacular gift to Vancouver in the form of a magnificent, iconic, Salvador Dali bronze sculpture, titled Dance of Time I. The seven-foot sculpture will be on display in a public space at Lot 19 (Hornby and W. Hastings Street), for all to enjoy, for 150 days in 2017 from May through September. The piece is valued at $750,000.
The sculpture is part of the extensive “Definitely Dali” exhibition by Chali-Rosso Art Gallery, which will include about 100 works of art by the historical master. The public is invited for a tour of the Definitely Dali Exhibition. Public donations and partial proceeds from the gallery’s sales will be donated to Arts Umbrella, a local non-profit that offers arts and arts-education programs to Metro Vancouver youth.
