Vancouver Heritage Foundation’s Places That Matter plaque project began in 2011 to celebrate Vancouver’s 125th anniversary of incorporation as a City, and the goal of the project is to raise awareness about the people, places and events that tell the story of Vancouver’s history.
On June 26th form 12pm - 1pm, come celebrate the 5 new plaques that were installed on West Hastings Street. West Hastings Street has long been at the centre of the city’s history. The magnificent visual legacy of iconic heritage buildings makes this one of the most memorable streets around.
Join us at Lot 19 for music with the Doreen Bender Trio, free coffee, tea and treats and a walking tour of West Hastings Street with civic historian John Atkin. We’ll celebrate the installation of five Places That Matter plaques that each highlight a story of this street and its impact on the city. The Vancouver Ice Cream Co. will be selling fruit bars ($2) and ice cream treats ($1.50).
The first 50 people to come visit us will receive a goody bag full of treats!
